Penang, 7th March 2025 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Emerix Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, reinforcing their commitment to bridging academia and industry to drive technological innovation and talent development. The signing ceremony was graced by Penang Deputy Chief Minister II, YB Jagdeep Singh Deo, alongside distinguished representatives from both academic and industrial sectors.

Emerix Malaysia, a subsidiary of a South Korean company, has been actively engaging with local authorities to discuss its expansion plans in Penang. A few months ago, Emerix paid a courtesy visit to YB Jagdeep to share its vision and development plans for the state. The signing of this MOU further solidifies Emerix’s dedication to fostering collaboration between the education sector and the industry.
Key Objectives of the MOU:
- Internship & Employment Opportunities: UiTM students will gain hands-on experience through internship and training programs, enhancing their industry readiness and career prospects.
- Access to Advanced Equipment: Emerix will provide UiTM access to its state-of-the-art testing equipment, including Flying Probe Testers, to support research in electronic testing.
- Knowledge Exchange: Both parties will collaborate on symposia, short courses, and industry conferences to facilitate academic and industrial knowledge sharing.
- Technology Development: Joint research initiatives will be undertaken to drive commercialization of innovative technologies.
During the press conference, YB Jagdeep expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “PENANG LEADS IN ENSURING SUFFICIENT STEM TALENTS FOR OUR INDUSTRY! Happy to witness the MOU between UiTM and Emerix Malaysia, which has its headquarters in South Korea, fostering closer collaboration between academia and industry. This partnership will create more opportunities for our future talents, strengthening the alignment between academic research and industry needs while driving innovation in our E&E and semiconductor industry. With 450 MNCs and 6,500 SMEs in Penang, we will ensure they continue to thrive. We are Penang, We Can!”
Meanwhile, Emerix Malaysia reaffirmed that its objective is not to gain any benefit from the university but rather to help Malaysia’s top students by providing them with better learning opportunities and a conducive environment for growth, thereby nurturing the country’s future technological leaders.

This collaboration between UiTM and Emerix Malaysia marks a significant milestone in strengthening the talent pipeline and fostering innovation within Malaysia’s E&E and semiconductor industries. Both parties look forward to a fruitful partnership that will bridge the gap between academic research and industry demands, ultimately contributing to Malaysia’s position as a key player in technological advancement.
